Edison Oil Company had its beginning during the oil embargo of the 1970’s. In April of 1974, Walter Eakins, Sr. began Edison Oil Company. When asked, Walt recalls his first month’s volume, “That first month we only did 168,000 gallons.” Today, Edison Oil Company has a growing, healthy business that pumps millions of gallons every month. Edison Oil Company has also grown with its brand offerings. When it began in 1974, Union 76 was the only brand offered. Through the years, the Eakins family has come to understand the importance of offering only the top brands in the industry: Marathon, Shell, 76 Gulf and Smitty’s.
